Best Chicken Wings

O.B. Noodle House’s spicy garlic wings are a standout appetizer served at its original Ocean Beach location. Nestled in a laid-back beachside neighborhood on Cable Street, the wings reflect the casual, local charm that defines this corner of San Diego. They earn a spot on our picks list for their focused preparation - wingettes bathed in a house satay marinade, crisp-fried, wok-tossed, garnished with cilantro, and served with ranch. The dish showcases clean flavor and thoughtful technique that complement the restaurant’s broader appeal for both its food and neighborhood authenticity.

A classic San Diego original, the Original Buffalo Wings come from Epic Wings (formerly Wings N’ Things) in Kearny Mesa. This flagship-style location on Convoy Street serves the recipe that first brought buffalo wings to the West Coast, nestled in a busy northeast neighborhood known for its mix of eateries and cultural diversity. We chose it for our picks list for its local legacy and consistent execution—fresh, never frozen wings tossed in a balanced buffalo sauce, paired with house-made dips, breadsticks, and crisp veggie sticks. The simplicity and authenticity - no freezers, microwaves, or heat lamps - reflect a steadfast commitment to quality that still resonates with San Diegans.

Dirty Birds Wings come from the “OG” Dirty Birds Bar & Grill in Pacific Beach. Nestled just a block from the boardwalk on Mission Boulevard, the bar serves up a wide variety of wing sauces that reflect the area’s laid-back, beach-town energy. The setting is lively and relaxed, making wings feel like local comfort food rather than just bar fare. They make our picks list for the sheer range and consistency of their wing offerings. Customers can choose from more than 37 crafted sauces. The wings arrive crisp and juicy, with options ranging from classic buffalo to unique house creations. Big portions, flavorful coatings, and a welcoming, casual atmosphere make it easy to see why locals return again and again.
